Tudor Oysterdate Big Block reverse panda dial ref. 94200

Tudor’s Big Block is the first automatic chronograph produced by either Tudor or Rolex. The name “Big Block” alludes to the case’s increased thickness compared to earlier Wilsdorf chronographs. Dating back to 1989, this watch houses the reliable Valjoux 7750 movement and rotor, combined with the vintage charm of a pre-Daytona chronograph.

The first series of Big Block was offered in three configurations: a steel tachymeter bezel (94300), a 12-hour rotating bezel (94210), and the coveted bakelite tachymeter bezel (94200). Among the Tudor Big Blocks, this first series is particularly sought after by collectors due to its rarity and uniqueness. Notably, these early models had Rolex-signed cases, bracelets, and crowns — a detail that changed with the release of the 79100 series.

The watch is in overall excellent condition, showing the correct polished and brushed areas with minor scratches visible throughout the watch. There is noticeable denting at the bottom of the bezel, near the 120 and 130 degree marks, as well as fading near “Units per hour”. On the dial there is small debris (likely fallen lume) that can be removed by a watchmaker, and some fading/oxidation consistent with an original dial from the era. There is minimal stretch to the bracelet, and the Rolex-stamped clasp remains tight when the bracelet is closed.

This watch has been left watch unpolished and in the same condition as when it was first received by us. It was last serviced in May 2024 according to the previous owner. It does not include any accessories, box, or papers.
