Grand Seiko commemorates its 140th anniversary with a Spring Drive watch whose dial is inspired by the calm waters of Lake Suwa, which lies close to the Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri, Japan.
The patterned dial evokes the gentle sway of Lake Suwa's ripples and shallow waves that create a pleasing sparkle at whichever angle the dial catches the light. The seconds hand and the Grand Seiko letters are sharply defined in a gold color and echo the morning sunrise shimmering on the lake’s surface. The bold hands and grooved, prominent markers provide exceptional legibility, while the Zaratsu-polished, distortion-free mirror finish alternates with a delicate hairline finish, giving the case a refined and harmonious glow. The wide lugs and low center of gravity ensure the watch rests comfortably and securely on the wrist.
The watch is powered by the new Spring Drive 5 Days Caliber 9RA2, which maintains the technical performance of the Caliber 9RA5, while relocating the power reserve indicator to be visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
